We are enjoying learning more about Evreux, the twin town for Rugby in France.
RFPS has been very fortunate in developing links with a training college in Evreux which has meant we have been able to welcome French Students for two months each year. Alexis joined us in the Autumn Term 2016 and Chloe joined us in the Autumn Term 2017. Both enjoyed experiencing life in England, alongside giving our children first hand opportunity to experience the French Language and learn about Evreux.
The children particularly enjoyed it when Alexis did assembly sharing with the children some of the differences between Evreux, our twin town in France, and Rugby. The assembly progressed to note key differences between France and England and the children thoroughly enjoying learning about the different things. Alexis did a quiz at the end to see what the children had learnt about the similarities and differences and the children did incredibly well. The assembly finished with the children learning a little French song and singing this instead of their usual English song to end.
Take a look at Alexis powerpoint showing the differences that the children discussed.

Chloe was able to build on this when she visited us the following year and the children were ready with their questions about her home town. Chloe did a short French session with each of our house groups twice a week while she was with us meaning they started to learn the basics of the French language. The children made a French card and said goodbye to Chloe in French as she left.
We look forward to further developing our links with the town in the future and further developing global cohesion by teaching our children a little more about the French way of life and language.
