What a wonderful day celebrating reading and looking at characters from our favourite books. Everybody had a great time dressing up in their favourite characters, bringing in a book to share with their friends, taking part in a catwalk parade in their costumes and then doing activities in mixed groups of Reception and Year One based on a chosen book. Some groups made penguins, others made caterpillars and others ladybirds. We had drama, art, writing and maths all linked to books. A truly fabulous day which all the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed!
As we would also be taking part in Ready Steady Listen, we chose not to ask our children to make a donation for coming to school dressed as a character. RFPS school council did however, still choose to give a donation to Book Aid International. They chose to give some of the collection money which they collected after the Christmas Play. Book Aid International is a charity who help children in Africa who do not have sufficient books to read or to help them to learn. At RFPS, we are delighted to be able to help children who are less fortunate than us in another part of the world.
