This week has been a momentus one for our country. As part of our focus on British Values we often talk to the children about the importance of democracy and this gave us a further opportunity. We discussed the importance of voting and the consequences this can have for us and when we get older, our country also. Although, our children are not old enough to vote or to fully understand the implications of the decision which the British people made this week to leave the European Union, we took this opportunity to discuss the process of voting and look at some of the simpler things that the decision to stay in the European Union or to leave the European Union would mean for us.
Many of our children went home and chatted to their parents about this and some of them even went to the polling station with their parents to help them vote. Thank you to those parents who let the children experience this and talked to them about the process and the importance of each of us voting but then respecting the overall majority decision once this is reached.
Take a look at some photographs of our voting experiences…
