Rugby Free Primary School is situated within the Central Park development in north Rugby. This stunning building, previously the ikon building, was our preferred site from the outset as it offered high quality, flexible accommodation across two floors with an exterior space suitable for early years and a playground. At over 25,000 sq feet, this spacious building offered all the room we needed for the 420 children who will eventually occupy the school.
Refurbishment began on the building in April 2015 and we are delighted to now have a truly amazing building now which offers state of the art facilitates for our children. We have a large open plan Reception classroom with direct access to a fabulous outdoor learning area with a castle, an octopus and various different areas of learning! We have three classrooms for each year group from Year 1 to 6 and a fabulous hall, kitchen and playground with a safety surfaced sports court and a trim trail. We also have access to a fantastic community green space which is a short, safe walk from the school.
Daisykins Day Nursery works in close partnership with the school and provides a a private day nursery on the school premises. We also work closely with Game On, our partners who provide before and after school enrichment activities for our children. This enables parents with children at the school and nursery to drop off and collect siblings together should they wish and working parents to have the quality provision they need for their children.
Tom Legge, our Chair of Governors spoke of his delight as he saw the finished site for the first time:
“I knew this was the right home for our school the moment I walked into the building. The possibilities of such a blank canvas were enormous and I have enjoyed working with the Education Funding Agency, the Trust and our Head to create a super learning environment.”
