As part of Mental Health Awareness Day, Dr. Julia Twynholm, a Clinical Psychologist came in to school to do a special assembly for the children. She talked about how we keep ourselves ‘healthy’ starting with our bodies and then moving on to a discussion about how we keep our minds healthy. Julia described the feelings which we have as a rainbow and explained how it is fine to have many different feelings and for these to be different for different people. The message that is it good to talk about these different feelings and it is fine to feel differently to others was highlighted. The children looked at different situations and thought about how they felt or would feel in these situations. Each class did some follow up work based around their feelings and how these are evoked when they returned to class.
Thank you most sincerely to Julia for giving up her time to share her expertise around having a ‘healthy mind’ with our children.
