At Rugby Free Primary School, we teach using an enquiry based model to develop children’s critical thinking skills in RE. All children have the opportunity to study a range of faiths and beliefs during their time here. At the beginning of each half term, we pose the children a question such as ‘was is always easy for Jesus to show friendship?’ or ‘how can Brahman be everywhere and in everything?’ We start each half term engaging the children by linking the question to their own experiences. The children then have chance to investigate the question before evaluating and expressing their thoughts.
We always emphasis that children are free to make their own choices and hold their own beliefs. Our RE lessons are thought provoking, allow the children to be creative and to reflect deeply.
