Science at RFPS
At RFPS, we believe it is very important for children to learn about the world in which they live and that they have the Scientific knowledge and skills they need to investigate theories and trial different concepts.
We link our Science Curriculum with our teaching about being Eco Friendly, encouraging our children to understand how to look after the world in which they live.
At RFPS we use the Cornerstones Curriculum as our basis with our children thoroughly enjoying both the links to Science through our topics and the additional ‘Love to investigate’ units which we do with a focus on scientific enquiry.
The overall ultimate aims however, are those identified in the National Curriculum.
The National Curriculum for Science aims to ensure that all pupils:
- develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
- develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
- are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
