We all enjoyed celebrating St. George’s Day today, the patron Saint of our country. We began the day with a special assembly where we learnt about St. George and the bravery which he displayed standing up for what was right.
We then linked this to our school value, resilience and discussed the workshops which we had based on British Values on Friday and how we could use our learning from these and the example of St. George when we are showing our school value.
Finally, we looked at the ‘traditions’ of England and talked about why these are important. We had a special ‘fish and chips’ or ‘Banger and Mash’ St. George’s Day lunch followed by traditional Jam Tart! It was yummy!
Towards the end of our day, we found out that Prince William and Princess Catherine had given birth to a new Prince for us. What a fabulous day for him to be born. We are looking forward to finding out more about him and are busy guessing his name!
A great day… we are proud to be English!
