On Monday, Year 2 went on an exciting SMSC trip to a Mosque. The children in Year 2 have been learning about how Muslims worship in a Mosque and the way in which they pray so it was really useful and exciting to have an opportunity to see this in real life. We saw the different parts of the Mosque, including where Muslims wash before prayer, where they worship and pray and some classrooms where Muslim children have lessons. We even learned some of the Arabic alphabet- it was quite tricky! We learned the 5 pillars of Islam which are the most important rules for Muslims to follow. They are that Muslims must follow one god, pray 5 times a day, give to charity, follow fasting rules and they must complete a Hajj during their life. All of Year 2 really enjoyed the trip and learned a lot about the Islamic faith.
