At Rugby Free Primary School, we recognise the importance of a happy and positive transition from pre-school to primary education or changes in school mid-way through the year.
Admissions
We understand that this may be an emotional and stressful time for both pupils and parents but we also hope that it is an exciting one! We work hard in ensuring that transition is as smooth as possible and that you and your child have opportunities to visit us before starting at RFPS.
“My child is thriving at RFPS, and it’s down to how much the staff care.”
Why don’t you come and visit us?
In order to help you make the decision about whether RFPS is right for you and your child, we hold regular parental tours of the school every month. This is where you have the opportunity to hear a bit about the school from a senior leader and see the children fully engaged in their learning. Please call or email the school office on office@rugbyfreeprimary.co.uk to book a place on one of our tours as places are limited.
Admissions for pupils wishing to join us in Reception need to apply for a school place through Warwickshire County Council Admissions Service. The deadline for applications is usually mid-January for a September start. Please click the link below for more information:
Applying for a school place in Reception – Warwickshire County Council
Admissions for pupils wishing to apply to join us from January of their Reception year up to Year 6 can do so through the school. Admission decisions sit with the Trust of the school, Triumph Learning Trust. All applications go to the Trust and the Board of Trustees make a considered decision on each application about whether the school has the capacity and space to accept the pupil. If you wish to apply for a school place at RFPS, please fill in the application form below and send it via email to: rfps-admissions@rugbyfreeprimary.co.uk.
As a popular school in the area with children starting in Reception year and staying through to Year 6, RFPS is often at full capacity with 60 pupils in each year group. Unfortunately, the school does not have additional spaces to take children leaving infant school at the end of Year 2 (going into Year 3), unless places become available when families move on. This does not affect your right to apply to join RFPS at any time and trustees will consider all applications fully.
If your child is in Year 6, then you have until Monday 31 October to submit your application for their secondary school place. There’s a range of useful information on the Warwickshire County Council website to help you apply, including a list of all local schools, a priority area map and a handy video to help you make realistic choices of schools. For these and guidance on how to apply, visit Applying for a secondary school place – Warwickshire County Council.
