Curriculum

“We believe in helping engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.”

At RFPS, our curriculum is underpinned by the values and knowledge which we are equipping pupils with to succeed in life beyond their primary education. Central to this are the key academic, personal and vocational skills which prepare our pupils to become life-long learners.

We ensure our curriculum celebrates and draws upon the experiences, differing perspectives and interests of our diverse community. We also challenge stereotypes and educate our pupils to respect each other’s cultures and beliefs.

Curriculum Intent

Our curriculum challenges children to ‘aim high’ whatever their starting points, learning substantive knowledge and disciplinary skills which our pupils will acquire sequentially throughout their time at RFPS. Learning from each other and ‘achieving together’ allows our pupils to widen their perspective of the world around us.

Teaching a broad and balanced curriculum, where all subjects are valued, is fundamental in the development of the whole child. We teach subjects discretely, teaching through different concepts and themes and making links between the subjects where possible.

We know that our pupils learn best when they are immersed in their learning, therefore we plan an engaging curriculum that takes the children on a meaningful learning journey. We enrich our children with wider experiences that enhance their knowledge and skills and stay with them for life. We provide our children with all the tools to help them to know more, do more, remember more. We want all of our pupils to experience and ‘celebrate their successes’, building their confidence and creating life-long learners.
